Department: Chemical Sciences        Faculty: Science

Historically, Chemistry has its name and roots in alchemy, a practice which thrived for millennia throughout the world. Chemistry is the science of matter, its properties, transformations and interactions of matter and energy. It is the study of atoms, collections of atoms such as molecules, crystals or metals that make up ordinary matter.

Chemistry has specialized areas that overlap with other sciences such as biology, geology or physics.

The Department in home to two programmes: B.Sc Biochemistry and B.Sc Chemistry.

The Department awards a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (B.Sc. Chemistry)
