Dear Parents/Students,

INFORMATION ON SECOND WAVE OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC PREVENTION LOCKDOWN.

I write on behalf of the University Management to inform Parents/Students that the date of resumption of students on campus earlier scheduled for Monday, 04 January, 2021 has been postponed till further notice.  The postponement is in response to the letter from the National Universities Commission dated 23 December, 2020, directing all Universities to remain closed for a period of five weeks, pending further directive by the Federal Government on the reopening of schools; due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Senate of the University had an emergency meeting on Tuesday, 29 December, 2020 to discuss the issue and decided to embark on virtual teaching to keep up with the already scheduled academic activities in order to prevent elongation of the academic session. Consequently, the online lectures for 200 to 400 level students will commence on Tuesday, 05 January, 2021 while that of 100 level will commence on Monday, 18 January, 2021.

While the University Management is aware of some of the challenges of the virtual teaching and learning, everyone would agree that this is quite a circumstantial situation that requires a lot of determination and understanding. Parents/Guardians should assist in ensuring that their children attend the online classes which would be closely monitored. Your support and encouragement in the past is appreciated. Students should be reminded that 75% class attendance in a semester is mandatory for eligibility to write end of semester examinations.

Further information on reopening would be circulated as the need arises.
