Dr. Onyeashie James Eziechine

Profile & Experiences:

 

Dr. James Eziechine Onyeashie is an Associate Professor of English in the Department of English at Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos, Nigeria. He is a scholar of Gender Studies whose research focuses on the representation of masculinities in African literature and culture. His scholarly inquiry examines masculine performance, hierarchies of masculinities, gender roles, emotional responsiveness, and the social construction of masculine identities in literary and cultural contexts. Through interdisciplinary literary criticism and gender analysis, his work contributes significantly to contemporary debates in African literary studies, masculinity studies, and cultural criticism. He has published extensively in reputable local and international journals, books, and edited volumes, and his scholarship continues to shape conversations around gender representation and identity in African literature.

He obtained his Ph.D. in English, M.A. in English, and B.A. (Hons.) in English from the University of Lagos, and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Ekiti State University.
