Profile & Experiences:

Dr. Lawrence Segun Ekun is an academic philosopher, researcher, and Catholic priest of the Diocese of Lokoja, currently serving as a Fidei Donum priest in the Archdiocese of Lagos. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with specialization in Epistemology, focusing on Phenomenology, Philosophical Naturalism, Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy of Religious Experience. He is a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Augustine University, where he is committed to bridging academic philosophy with social practice.

Dr. Ekun is the author of several scholarly works, including A New Vision of Man: An Invitation to Christian Anthropology (2000), The Theory of Intentionality: A Study of Edmund Husserl’s Phenomenological Analysis of Human Experience (2020), and Epistemic Normativity in Quine’s Naturalized Epistemology (2025). His research engages major themes in epistemology, phenomenology, philosophy of mind, and contemporary debates in naturalized epistemology.

His academic contributions also include chapters in edited volumes and articles published in reputable Nigerian philosophy journals. His works address issues such as democracy and openness in Karl Popper’s socio-political philosophy, normative questions in Quine’s epistemology, the ontological status of mathematical concepts, and the role of language and education in Africa.
