Augustine University Strengthens Global Ties with African Historical Society Partnership Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, has taken a significant step towards advancing historical scholarship and academic collaboration through a new partnership with The African Historical Society (AHS). The partnership was the focus of a strategic meeting held at the Senate Chamber of the University on Thursday, 23rd April, 2026, between the University Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Alaba Akinwale, OP, and Dr. (Ts’gye) Rachel T. Leslie, DMIN, M.A., Executive Director of The African Historical Society (AHS). Dr. Leslie, a scholar in Semitic and Egyptian Languages and Literatures, engaged the University leadership in fruitful deliberations aimed at encouraging academic cooperation, research development, and the promotion of African history and heritage. During the meeting, both parties explored areas of mutual interest, including collaborative research initiatives, scholarly exchanges, conferences, and programmes that would deepen the study and understanding of Africa’s rich historical legacy. Speaking during the engagement, the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed Augustine University’s commitment to academic excellence, global partnerships, and intellectual pursuits that contribute meaningfully to society. The partnership with The African Historical Society is expected to open new opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers of Augustine University, while strengthening the institution’s role as a centre of learning and scholarship in Africa.
