Augustine University Holds Strategic Plan Summit to Reposition Institution for the Future

Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, on Wednesday, 29th April, 2026, held its Strategic Plan Summit at the University’s Convocation Hall, bringing together Management staff, Deans of Faculties, Directors, Heads of Departments, Heads of Units and Students’ Representatives to deliberate on a new strategic direction for the institution’s future.

The summit featured Professor Chris Ogbechie, former Dean and Professor of Strategic Planning at Lagos Business School, as Guest Consultant. Professor Ogbechie is also a member of the Augustine University Governing Council.

The event was designed to provide a roadmap for the University’s long-term development, focusing on strategic growth, institutional competitiveness, and the evolving dynamics of higher education in a rapidly changing world.

In his presentation, Professor Ogbechie highlighted global trends shaping students’ preferences in the knowledge industry and education sector. He spoke on the need for institutions to adapt to changing demands such as content relevance, flexible learning models, accessibility, affordability, personalised learning experiences, and the growing role of digital platforms in education.

Speaking at the summit, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Alaba Akinwale, OP, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to excellence, innovation and faith-based education, noting that the summit was a significant step toward repositioning Augustine University for greater impact.

The Registrar, Mrs. Margaret Aziba, also gave valuable insights into the establishment of Augustine University, tracing the institution’s journey since 2015. She highlighted the University’s founding vision, mission, and various developmental phases since inception, emphasizing its steady growth and commitment to delivering quality faith-based education.

A major highlight of the summit was the breakout sessions, where participants engaged in collaborative discussions on reviewing and refining the University’s vision and mission statements, as well as its core values. Stakeholders also examined Augustine University’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT), while identifying key competencies and strategic priorities for the years ahead.

The sessions further explored strategic pillars, enablers, stakeholder expectations, competitor analysis, and key outcomes expected from faculties and departments by the year 2032.
