The Turning of Sod for the Faculty of Engineering Buildings of Augustine University took place on Tuesday, 27th of November, 2018.

The Ceremony was attended by the Proprietor of the University, His Grace, Most Reverend Alfred Adewale Martins, the Archbishop of Lagos Archdiocese; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sir Steve Omojoafor and other members of the BoT; members of the Governing Council; Mr. Femi Otedola, the donor of the faculty building; Lady Adedoja Otedola, former First Lady of Lagos State and benefactor of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steve Afolami; the Registrar, Mrs. Margaret Aziba; members of the Augustine University Fund Raising Committee, led by Chief Mrs. Sena Anthony and other Priests and Religious.

The BoT Chairman, in his opening address said the University was conceptualized 10 years ago, and approval for take-off was given in 2015, with 13 programmes, and now, a preference for technology-based programmes has necessitated the construction of a Faculty of Engineering to meet demand in the country. He added that the Otedola Family, was present to unveil the drawing of the Faculty and turn the sod, after which, work would begin on the site. He added that the first block of the complex would be completed in two years.

The faculty building, according to the Project Architect, Architect Oluwafemi Aina would have wings, with each wing accommodating one department.

Mr. Femi Otedola said the Project was a worthy cause that was dear to him, because the University is located in his hometown and his late father had a passion for education. He hoped that the completion of the building would encourage others to contribute towards the growth of the University.

Archbishop Martins thanked the Otedola Family for their generosity towards the University and also acknowledged His Eminence, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, who was absent at the Ceremony, for his foresight and guidance in ensuring that the Augustine University Project took off well.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to His Grace, and the Archdiocese at large for their unwavering support of the University. He added that with the promise of the donor to complete the project in good time, the University hoped to advertise for students into engineering programmes, soon.
