Apostolic Nuncio Tours Augustine University, Praises Growth and Excellence In a historic visit, the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty, graced Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, with his presence on Friday, 3rd January, 2025. Archbishop Crotty was accompanied by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins, and other Priests from the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. The visit began with a brief tour of the University campus, highlighting its architectural beauty and modern facilities. The visitors were received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Professor Anthony Akinwale, OP; Director of Operations, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Ogundele; Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Rukevwe Olughor and the Faculty Officer of the Faculty of Science, Mrs. Adesomo Babajide. Other members of the delegation included the Secretary to the Archbishop, Rev. Fr. Paul Ariole, Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ibonwon, Rev. Fr. Marcus Famosaya and Rev. Fr. Tony Nwosu. The delegation visited key landmarks, including the state-of-the-art 1200-capacity Chapel of Mary Mother of the Church, the Faculty Buildings, the Library, and the Administrative Building. The Apostolic Nuncio expressed admiration for the University’s commitment to academic and spiritual excellence. During the visit, Archbishop Crotty commended the University for its remarkable achievements in education and moral development. He encouraged the Institution to continue upholding Catholic values while fostering innovation and learning.
