FACUSSA Sports Tournament 2025: Thrills, Victories, and Unforgettable Moments

The Faculty of Science Students Association (FACUSSA) hosted an exhilarating two-day sports tournament on February 1st and 2nd, 2025, featuring intense competitions in Lawn Tennis, Basketball, Scrabble, Chess, Track events, and Football. The tournament showcased exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination among participants, creating an electrifying atmosphere for students and spectators alike.

Lawn Tennis Tournament

The Lawn Tennis tournament saw fierce battles in the singles (female) and doubles (male) categories. Paul-Ebiai Cara (Red) emerged as the Female Singles Champion, defeating Promise Nifemi (Blue) in the final, while Ebirim Onyekachi and Ihuoma Joseph (Green) claimed victory in the Men’s Doubles. Onyekachi was named Best Male Player, while Cara was awarded Best Female Player.

Basketball Tournament

The basketball competition featured thrilling matchups, with Team Blue clinching the championship after a hard-fought 3-game final series against Team Green. Origbo Caleb (Team Green) was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his outstanding performance.

Scrabble Tournament

The Scrabble event highlighted strategic brilliance, with Ottun Pedro (Team Green) emerging as the champion after defeating Ejikonye Pearl (Lilac) in the final with a dominant 400–198 score.

Chess Tournament

In the Chess competition, Team Red’s Alagbaoso Kelvin triumphed over Madubuike Kachi (Team Green) in the final to claim the championship.

Football Tournament

Football matches were filled with dramatic moments, culminating in Team Blue’s triumph over Team Lilac in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw. Oladokun Michael was named Man of the Tournament and Playmaker of the Tournament, while Osaluwe Kingsley (Lilac) won the Highest Goal Scorer award.

Track Events

In the track competition, Ighodano Omosefe (Blue) won the Female category, while Nwosu Uchechukwu (Red) secured gold in the Male category.

The FACUSSA Sports Tournament 2025 was a resounding success, ensuring camaraderie, competitive spirit, and excellence within the Faculty of Science.
