AUI Inaugurates Student Representatives, Urges Humility and Responsibility Augustine University, on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, formally inaugurated its newly elected Students' Representatives during a solemn Holy Mass held at the University Chapel—Chapel of Mary Mother of the Church. The event marked a significant milestone in the University's effort to strengthen student leadership and representation. In his homily, the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Andrew Toye, encouraged the student leaders to embrace humility in their service. He reminded them that leadership is a responsibility that demands wisdom, patience, and a deep sense of commitment to the common good. “You have been chosen to serve, not to rule. Lead with humility, and always place the needs of others above personal interests,” he said. Further words of encouragement came from the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ngozi Chikere, and the University Counsellor, Rev. Sr. Josephine Tiav. Both officials urged the student representatives to uphold the core values of the university and remain responsible intermediaries between the student body and the university administration. “Your role is not just about leadership, but about building bridges and fostering understanding,” Sr. Josephine emphasized. The newly inaugurated student representatives are: Ugonwa Chimamanda (300 Level, Accounting and Finance) – Treasurer Udemeh Benedict (200 Level, Software Engineering) – Deputy Welfare Representative (Male) Afolabi Oluwadamilola (300 Level, Political Science and International Relations) – Sports Representative (Female) Ebirim Onyekachi (200 Level, Computer Engineering) – Sports Representative (Male) Peters Emmanuel (200 Level, Software Engineering) – Sports Representative (Male) Chigozie-Nmonwu Lumen-Maria (300 Level, Economics) – Social Representative (Female) Anyanwu Raymond (400 Level, Software Engineering) – Welfare Representative (Male) Chukwu Benedicta (200 Level, Computer Science) – Deputy Welfare Representative (Female) Okojie Eromosele (400 Level, Software Engineering) – SDC Representative (Male) Okorie Lucia Chinemerem (300 Level, Mass Communication and Media Studies) – Welfare Representative (Female) Ndinwa Philip (200 Level, Mathematical Sciences) – Social Representative (Male) Nwabuzor Ndubunma Immaculata (300 Level, Mass Communication and Media Studies) – SDC Representative (Female) The event was attended by Members of the University community, and it ended with a charge for the new representatives to serve as models of discipline, cooperation, and integrity throughout their tenure.
