29 AUI Students Receive the Sacrament of Confirmation During 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass The Mass, which marked a decade of divine grace and academic growth for the University, was presided over by the Proprietor of the University and Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, His Grace, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins. During the liturgy, the Archbishop administered the Sacrament of Confirmation upon the candidates, invoking the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon each one of them. In his homily, the Archbishop emphasized the importance of remaining rooted in the faith, encouraging the newly confirmed to become true witnesses of Christ in their academic pursuits and daily lives. He commended the University for not only upholding academic excellence but also ensuring the spiritual development of its students. The 29 students had been catechized and spiritually prepared for the Sacrament by the University Chaplaincy, under the pastoral guidance of Rev. Fr. Andrew Toye, the Substantive Chaplain of the institution. The Sacrament of Confirmation, which completes the initiation into the Catholic faith, deepens baptismal grace and strengthens the faithful with the power of the Holy Spirit to live out their Christian calling more fully. The event added a deeply spiritual dimension to the University’s 10th Anniversary celebration, highlighting its commitment to holistic formation—intellectually, morally, and spiritually. The ceremony was witnessed by members of the University management, staff, students, parents, and invited clergy, all of whom joined in praying for the newly confirmed as they continue their faith journey.
In a solemn and spiritually uplifting ceremony, twenty-nine students of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe were fully initiated into the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday, 25th June, 2025, during the 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass held at the Chapel of Mary, Mother of the Church.
