AUI Management Visits Nursing Students on Clinical Training at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital

The Management of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Professor Anthony Alaba Akinwale, OP, paid a courtesy visit to St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital, Ikorodu, on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The visit was to check on the University’s Nursing Science students who are currently undergoing clinical training at the hospital.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar, Mrs. Margaret Aziba; Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ngozi Chikere; Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Rukevwe Olughor; Coordinator of Nursing Science Department, Mr. Adejare Agbonjimi; and Public Relations Officer, Ms. Moyinoluwa Ajayi. 

The Nursing students began their clinical posting at the hospital on August 4, 2025.

Receiving the University’s delegation were the hospital’s management team, including Dr. Taiwo Sogunle (Medical Director), Rev. Sr. Hyacintha Ihedike (Director of Administration), Rev. Sr. Elizabeth Njokuh (Director of Nursing Services), and Mr. Kelvin Egberha (Human Resources Manager).

In his remarks, Rev. Prof. Akinwale commended the hospital for the quality of training and guidance given to Augustine University students. He emphasized that the institution looks forward to a “brighter and stronger collaboration” between both establishments, especially as they share the same proprietor – the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos.

Responding, the hospital management expressed appreciation to the University and lauded the performance of the students, noting that they had excelled in their recent clinical examinations. 

The Augustine University team was also taken on a guided tour of the hospital facilities, where they interacted with students on duty.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in the training of future healthcare professionals, thereby strengthening the mission of the Catholic Church in education and health care delivery.
