Augustine University Celebrates Alumnus, David Nwachukwu on Earning Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology

Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, proudly celebrates one of its distinguished alumni, Dr. David Nwachukwu, who recently bagged a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt.

The hooding ceremony, which marked the successful completion of his doctoral studies, was held on Saturday, 6th June, 2026.

Dr. Nwachukwu is a member of Augustine University's pioneer undergraduate cohort and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Microbiology from the University in 2019, graduating as the valedictorian of his class with an outstanding CGPA of 4.85/5.00. He subsequently obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Pathogenic Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Port Harcourt with a CGPA of 4.94/5.00, before proceeding to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Microbiology.. His academic journey has continued to reflect the excellence, dedication, and pursuit of knowledge that Augustine University seeks to instill in its students.

Currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Basic Sciences, Pamo University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Dr. Nwachukwu also functions as the institution's Examinations and Records Officer and Assistant to the Unit Coordinator. Beyond academia, he is the Founder and Chief Consultant of Nwachukwu ScholarSync Services, an organization dedicated to providing academic support services.

Reflecting on his journey at Augustine University, Dr. Nwachukwu described his experience as both challenging and rewarding. As a member of the University's first undergraduate set, he noted that the relatively small class sizes enabled students to receive personalized attention from lecturers, while the rigorous curriculum prepared them for future academic pursuits.

"Being part of the pioneer set profoundly shaped my academic journey," he said. "Before enrolling at Augustine University, my interests were somewhat unfocused. However, studying Microbiology ignited a passion that ultimately propelled me through my Master's and Ph.D. programmes."

His educational progression has been remarkable. After completing his Bachelor's degree in Microbiology at Augustine University in 2019, he proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt, where he earned a Master's degree in Pathogenic Microbiology and Biotechnology and subsequently completed his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology.

Dr. Nwachukwu acknowledged the critical role Augustine University played in preparing him for advanced research and postgraduate studies.
