Augustine University Celebrates Solemn Mass in Honour of St. Josemaria Escriva Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, on Friday, 26th June, 2026, held a Solemn Mass in honour of St. Josemaria Escriva, Founder of Opus Dei, at the Chapel of Mary Mother of the Church. In his homily, the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Andrew Toye, reflected on the exemplary life and enduring legacy of St. Josemaria Escriva, highlighting his commitment to spreading the universal call to holiness, which inspired the founding of Opus Dei. Fr. Toye reminded the congregation that the celebration of the memorials of saints is not just to honour their lives but, more importantly, to imitate their faith, virtues, and total commitment to God. He stressed that the life of St. Josemaria serves as a reminder that every Christian is called to pursue holiness through faithful service, prayer, and the sanctification of ordinary daily work.
