AUI Elevates Rukevwe Olughor, Philip Edema to Professorial Rank

Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, has recorded another significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence as the Governing Council approved the promotion of Dr. Rukevwe Olughor  and Dr. Philip Edema to the rank of Professor at its 46th meeting held on Wednesday, 2nd September 2026.

The promotion of Professor Olughor takes effect from 1 October 2025, while that of Professor Edema takes effect from 1 October 2026.

Professor Edema is the Head of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, while Professor Olughor serves as the Director of Academic Planning and Head of the Department of Business Administration. Their elevation represents another significant milestone in Augustine University’s commitment to academic excellence, scholarship and institutional development.

The two academics had previously attained the rank of Associate Professor following the approval of their promotions by the Governing Council at its meeting of 20 November 2024. Their latest promotions to the professorial rank further recognise their contributions to teaching, research, academic leadership and the advancement of their respective disciplines.

Congratulating the newly promoted Professors, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Professor Anthony Alaba Akinwale, OP, expressed delight at the achievement and commended them for their dedication to academic excellence and service to the University.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that their promotions were well deserved and encouraged them to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Augustine University through impactful scholarship, mentorship and academic leadership.
