AUI Celebrates Feast Day of Saint Josemaría Escrivá with Holy Mass Augustine University, Ilara-Epe marked the feast day of Saint Josemaría Escrivá with a solemn holy mass on Wednesday, 26th June, 2024 at the University’s Convocation Hall, drawing a significant attendance from both Staff and Students. In his homily, Rev Fr. Prof. Anthony Akinwale, OP, spoke eloquently about the life and legacy of Saint Josemaría Escrivá, highlighting the Saint's dedication to promoting the universal call to holiness and the importance of integrating faith into everyday life. Father Akinwale emphasized the relevance of Escrivá’s teachings in today’s world, encouraging the University community to draw inspiration from his example. Saint Josemaria Escriva was a Roman Catholic priest and founder of Opus Dei. He was born on 9th January, 1902 in Barbastro, Aragon, Spain. He developed a prayer life intensely centered on the Eucharist during his priestly studies in Logroño, and also cultivated deep devotion to Mary. On 28th March, 1925, Josemaría was ordained to the priesthood. During his early ministry, he worked among a variety of people, including children, students, artists, and workers, while also teaching law to help support his mother and sister. His feast day is celebrated on 26th June every year in the Catholic Church.
